Faculty Position in Small Animal ECC, Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA

Purdue University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time Clinical-Track Position in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) at the level of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will join the three current full-time ECC faculty.

The department works with and is supported by a team of board-certified specialists in other areas including anesthesiology, behavior, cardiology, clinical pathology, pathology, dentistry,dermatology, internal medicine, laboratory animal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, theriogenology and toxicology. The department is nurturing a growing program which includes several experienced emergency doctors, and a residency training program with three residents. Emergency and Critical Care Diplomate in Bern, Switzerland

The Emergency and Intensive Care Service of the Small Animal Clinic of the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern, Switzerland, is looking for an ACVECC/ECVECC Diplomate to join our team. The position will open in October 2020.

The Small Animal Clinic is a large regional referral hospital with multiple specialty services, including Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Anesthesia, Dermatology, Ophthalmology and Cardiology. Clinical Pathology and services such as Microbiology, Pathology, Parasitology, etc are offered within the Vetsuisse Faculty. The hospital has an intensive care unit and a 24/7 emergency service operated by interns and residents with the support of senior clinicians. The Small Animal Clinic has a case load of 5,500 cases per year, of which almost half are emergency patients.

Apart from clinical duties (daytime emergency and ICU service coverage, after hour emergency backup), the candidate will be expected to actively participate in the supervision and training of residents (ECC as well as residents of other departments), teaching of interns and students, and take responsibility of certain administrative/organizational aspects. Veterinarian with advanced training in small animal emergency and critical care. Completion of a residency program approved by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) by the effective date of appointment is required; ACVECC board certification is preferred. Clinical experience and competence in small animal emergency and critical care (SAECC) medicine is required. Demonstrated aptitude/experience in teaching is required. For the Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical SAECC position, a documented record of creative scholarship or the potential to develop a clinical research program in the discipline is required. Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.

A valid license to practice veterinary medicine in California is required before employment begins (California Business and Professions Code Section 4846-4857). Individuals without a full California license must obtain a University License (California Business and Professions Code Section 4848.1) by the time of appointment.

The Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants for a standing faculty position in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) Medicine, Clinician Educator track.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the excellence of Penn Vet’s clinical programs in Emergency and Critical Care Small Animal Medicine, Education, and Service. The candidate will be responsible for didactic, laboratory and clinical teaching of veterinary medical students, participation in patient care, supervision of residents and continuing education for veterinarians locally and nationally. Clinical Educators are members of the standing faculty who spend the majority of their effort in clinical and teaching endeavors, with the balance of their efforts devoted to research and other scholarly pursuits.
To facilitate research and scholarly activity, clinical service will not exceed 67% of the faculty member’s time.

Candidates must have a veterinary degree and board-certification in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC).
