Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is looking for enthusiastic new-graduate veterinarians who are motivated by the opportunity to provide high quality diagnostic and treatment skills within a fully equipped specialist hospital environment through a 12 ½ months internship position. This position will provide the successful candidate with a strong background in companion animal general, emergency and speciality practice and an introduction to a research/publication career under the guidance of specialist veterinarians.
The interns will rotate on a shift basis rostered across day, night and weekend, through the anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, medicine and surgery services within VTH and the Pet Emergency Centre at Massey University. Interns work as primary and support clinicians, working closely with the residents and faculty clinicians in management of a varied local and referral caseload from across New Zealand. Other components of the program include participation in seminars, case rounds and journal clubs, instruction of final year veterinary students and involvement in a research project along with other special program opportunities.
You should be enthusiastic, motivated, organised, service-orientated, have a passion for education and possess excellent communication skills. The Pet Emergency Centre operates on a 24 hour basis and so your ability and willingness to work overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays is essential.
Inclusive dates of the program: start date of June 10, 2019 and date of completion June 28, 2020. We are looking for veterinarians who will enjoy the challenge of providing advanced diagnostic and treatment skills within an exciting, fully equipped specialist hospital environment. We hope to offer this internship to one or two new graduate veterinarians.
